Kiertoliike: Päijät-Häme Region Circular Economy Model and New Business Opportunities

The main objective of Kiertoliike project is to promote sustainable economic growth in the Päijät-Häme region. The main target group are SME’s, and the aim is to support the transition of companies’ products, processes and services towards circular economy. At the same time, the project promotes new business opportunities and practical solutions.

A part of project is to create a regional road map towards circular economy for year 2030. The road map presents circular economy business opportunities, and the areas of improvement. For the road map, regional material flows and actors have been mapped to identify unused opportunities. The business opportunities can be related to both the use of existing material flows and creating totally new kind of business.

Kiertoliike partners will also pilot a Circular Material Libray, develop new kind of recycling centre services, and create at least five business plans together with companies. Project partners are: Lahti University of Applied Sciences, Lappeenranta University of Technology, Muovipoli Ltd, Lahti Region Development Ltd. and Lahden Työn Paikka Ltd. The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
